On a coat, or a skirt, with a slit, the manufacturer will sew the slit closed with a small X of thread, and people are too stupid to realize they're meant to be removed. So they walk around with their vents sewn closed, and I want to run up to them and snip the threads off and then loudly shame them in public. I don't know how I've managed to restrain myself.

I've done that! I've walked around like a d-bag with my skirt sewn together!!

I think the real question here is why do they sew them shut in the first place??

My roommate sent me this link because she knows all too well how much this phenomenon pisses me off. Just snip it! Why don't people know that a back slit is actually supposed to be disconnected?

Hey... I'll annoy you more... I didn't realise this and was genuinely excited when I realised my jackets pockets WEREN'T FAKE! They were real pockets! All I had to do was unpick them! And Dizzy - I think they do it so they don't crease on the rack in the store, so they maintain their shape and look pretty for people to buy.

I hate when men leave the designer's patch on the cuff of a suit. Idiots.

I am very absentminded, and am always afraid that I've forgotten to cut the x. It's almost as bad as walking around with a name tag from a work function stuck to you all day and not knowing why people are giving you that "poor classless slob" look.

Went through the exact thing yesterday at Target. Would have probably been a flattering coat if it wasn't unnaturally pinched in at the knees. I wanted to say something so badly, but there is no way to approach that tactfully.

Being that I'm rather direct, I've had to point out to an officemate "hey. Cut your vent. Your jacket vent." The wearer looked confused, and another officemate grabbed his jacket tail and picked the 'X' off. He was going to meet clients that way!

Oh my god! The first day of cold weather on a NYC subway train. I should just carry a pair of scissors.

Hee, seems like some people actually don't know they can snip those. If you approach them nicely, maybe they will let you snip it for them.
