When a server in a restaurant picks up the folder with your bill and cash in it and asks, "Do you need change?"

Why not just say, "I'm too lazy to walk over to the register and walk back." or, "Did you cheapos leave me a tip or what?"

It's worst when they can see the bills, and know if there was a tip, it would be enormous. I had a tollbooth worker ask me if I wanted change.

Yes! Yes! I hate that. It is incredibly tacky. Take the money and bring back the change. If I want to leave you a tip, I will. Asking me always guarantees that I will leave you less.

Exactly. Although I applaud the tollbooth worker's spirit.

My pet peeve is when people paying in a restaurant DON'T specify if they need change. Mostly people who leave cash include the tip, and don't need change.

I agree with Kathleen... People in the service industry aren't frigging telepathic.
