People who tell me I "look tired."
I'm not tired, but I might be depressed. Gee, it makes me feel SO much better when you tell me I am not looking great. So sorry for not perking up Just For You. I'm not a model, I'm not here to make your life better. Am I tired? Perhaps. Or maybe not. Maybe I just decided not to wear makeup. Do you care enough to ask if I'm ill? No.

I get this a lot...what do they expect to gain by pointing out that I look like shit? Do they want me to praise them for their astute observation?

I'm with you. I have a simple look, very light eyelashes and small-ish blue eyes (Scandinavian). I don't mind my looks. But every time I go out without makeup and run into friends, it's the same story. "You OK? You look a little tired". Then I'm forced to tell them that their observation is dead wrong and I've never felt better, and that I thought I looked pretty good without makeup. Then I just smile and stare at them waiting for a response, looking dead-on in the eye. This usually serves the intended purpose of curing them of ever saying this to me again.

I like to respond with a, "Well, fuck you too!" You feel better immediately and the person is unlikely to ever say it again. If the person is old, or your boss, I throw out a sarcastic, "GEE, doesn't every girl love to hear that?"

Yeah, I agree with just saying "gee thanks" in a slightly sarcastic tone. That usually lets them know they are being rude and you are noticing so they need to cut that crap out.
