When someone says, "that's really funny" but doesn't laugh.
Unless you mean funny as weird-funny, or funny-tasting, I guess it's not really that funny.

Just because you didn't laugh doesn't mean you didn't find it funny. I rarely laugh out loud (completely involuntary, no clue why), but I find many things funny. Yet instead of laughing, I'll often smile, sometimes chuckle lightly, and sometimes say "that's funny." But when something's stupid-funny. . . I can see your point, though. It must get very annoying.

I bust you, Biffy, for stealing a peeve off Scrubs! This is why Zach Braff dumped Natalie Portman! She'd be all, "Oh, my god, that's so funny." and then not laugh.

I bust you in a friendly way, by the way.

He dumped Julie, played by Mandy Moore on Scrubs, but this peeve goes at least as far back as Seinfeld and is the impetus for Jerry plotting to take out his date's roommate instead, the one who laughed at his jokes instead of saying "that's funny" and not laughing. After some concentrated effort, Jerry's friend, George Costanza, suggested that Jerry's fool proof plan would have to be a menage a trois, in which the "that's funny" girl would be repelled, and the roommate would be intrigued and attracted to Jerry. Of course, first girl is "into it." Funny funny episode and shame on you for thinking that was a Scrubs peeve and getting the girl wrong. I like to think that you will feel totally schooled by this information.

I have never seen Scrubs, nor Natalie Portman act and must have missed that Seinfeld! I have, however, seen this happen in real life. That, is where I stole it from.

Oh, that's right -- Mandy Moore. Biffy, I hear you. It happens. Sometimes I do it, and then I feel all guilty about it. Mandy Moore raised my awareness of this issue. And now you.

Well, then, it must have been on tv because it's true to life, and the writers found it just to include in the scripts. At least 2 tv characters have found this cause to break up with someone they are dating, so some peeves are actually deal-breakers.

That may have been the entire premise of Seinfeld, at least for Jerry's dating experiences. It would be interesting to have a Deal-Breaker Peeves section.

one vote here for a deal-breakers section.

Not to be a complete ignorant racist ass, but I only find the white girls in my class do this. The white girls would talk amongst each other and one would bring up her high-larious experience last night and everyone would just say "that's funny" without even breaking a smile!
