The non-existance of unpadded bras in cup sizes less than D. Macy's, Victoria's secret, and Bloomingdales do not carry them. unpadded.

AGREED. It is yet another another way in which society is trying to shape women into its twisted ideal. I am an A-B cup and content with my size; however, I cannot go into a store and find a bra that does not push "enhancement." I once walked up to a sales associate and asked where I might find a minimizer to push this point.

it's because you have small boobs, and the padding is trying to help you. get over it. grow bigger tits. I have 36Ds and its hard to find padded bras.

— susan

I'm a 32D/DD. I have a hard time finding bras. At all. Much less bras that don't look like medical devices, or cost a fortune. The padding isn't there to make you look 1/8th of a inch closer to a Barbie Bust, it's also there to protect from 'show through' when it's cold. My nipples are pierced and 'highly reactive' to cold, so despite having big boobies, I want padding.

— AJ posted 5/7/2009

I think the padding j-mac is talking about is the grotesque, "if you're not at least a C-cup you're not worthy of love or approval" ultra-padded push up pads BS they put in nearly all bras for smaller women. I have no problem with a bit of lining to keep things appropriate and all, but the implication that I could never possibly be happy as a B is offensive -- why are you trying to "help" me, clothing maker? I don't need "help" with anything. Little old ladies crossing the street need help. Babies who can't feed themselves need help. Coma patients need help. So far my boobs have been pretty self-sufficient.

— Diana posted 5/7/2009

I am for anything that helps the ladies look a bit more "ample". :-)

— Rafiq of the Many posted 5/7/2009

You know, the padding is usually removable. Being a DD with few options I have little to no sympathy for your plight. BTW, La Perla makes stunning non-padded bras for you "normal" women.

— Acacia posted 5/7/2009

Nothing enrages me more than bra manufacturers. I feel like bitch smacking the lingerie industry.

— Personaldecay posted 5/7/2009

amen sister. boobs included bras are all there is. aside from padding, i don't want my tits to conform to your idea of what they should look like. little foam domes that can stand on their own freak me out.

— rebecca posted 5/9/2009

See... I find this interesting, cause I need a little padding to keep from looking like a 13 year old boy, and I can't find a padded bra anywhere!

— Brooke posted 5/9/2009

Hey Rebecca, why don't you just buy training bras or wear a camisole? Then you can be Flat and Happy. Beauty Industry be damned! Or you could build your own bra with one big tit! Or one BIG and one Small! Damn the beauty standards! Shave your hair and wear flat shoes! Don't wear makeup! It's all just how THEY want YOU to look! Don't let them push their EVIL Traditional Beauty Standards on you! Stop shaving your legs...that is a falsehood! Women have body hair! You are not a pink sparkly goddess!

— Ramona posted 5/11/2009

Why don't you ladies just go to Target. I happen to know that they have every type of bra you could want, including unpadded styles. And for all you branding snobs, according to Consumer Reports, one of the Target bras beat out Victoria's Secret in quality and durability. (BTW Ramona, that was hiLariOUS,thank you)

— WhineyWendy posted 5/11/2009

What's worse...bras that lie about cup size! The label says D, but your mams are falling out all over the place?! WTF? A little continuity in sizing would be amazing. This size fits, this same size over here doesn't. What's a gal to do?

— Mia posted 5/14/2009

How about padded bras in larger sizes? Really, padding in a DD, I think that I have enough to deal with here. Amen, on the continuity in sizing, I must wear 3 different bra sizes.

— Julianne posted 6/29/2009

AGREED. I find padding insulting to my womanhood and have a hard time finding bras that don't have padding. usually it's only in bikinis/bathing suits that you can actually remove the padding. I HATE padding!!! thank you, j-mac.

— hatepadding posted 7/12/2009

I went from a smallish B to a 32D/DD overnight and have seen both sides of this issue, from the unavailability of small unpadded bras to the utter lack of selection and complete uselessness of any reasonably-priced bra in my size. Ladies, don't think either side has it easier than you do. We're all just about equally screwed if we don't like what they hand us, whether that means inch-thick padding or neon orange with ruffles. What I want to know is why nobody's come up with a solution to the issue...

— ClothingWoes posted 7/17/2009

Hey ClothingWoes: I'm a 32d/dd too. Look for a brand called Jasmine & Ginger, and Wacoal, and one called Chantelle. Reasonably priced, good fit, fun designs, and they make 32D and 32DD's all day long. I love them!

— Aj posted 7/17/2009

Try the bras at Urban Outfitters! They tend to only sell thin, flimsy or sheer bras for smaller sizes.

— ellen posted 8/12/2009

I am a 32DD and want a padded, push up bra. where can I find one? Please tell me. medusakiltz@gmail.com

— medusakiltz posted 8/19/2009

I'm a 36A and find my bras at Figleaves.com. They have the sexiest, sheer bras. I'm on the small side and perky, but I have the biggest areola and nipples. My guy and I like the look of my nipplees showing through tops and dresses.

— Dennie posted 11/12/2009

I have an unusual problem, 44B. Try finding a padded or "concealer" bra in THIS size! Hello manufacturers, are you listening?

— Jonesy posted 11/26/2009

Anyone notice that anything a size larger than 36C is just plain ugly?? Great that the grrrls who are 34B can wear the cutest lingerie on the planet, but those of us in the over 36C category get to be relegated to ordering specialty items at outrageous prices. I'd, for once, like to walk into a department store and see those same cute little bras in MY size, WITH supportive straps and without extra bulky padding (I LIKE my 36D breasts the size they are, I do NOT need help to I can look like a 38DD!!). Some of them do a token 36D/38D as their largest size, but the straps are the same thin material for the 34B girls. Then I'm stuck with mams dancing in the south pole and the bra look raggedy in a week.

— kukygrl posted 12/6/2009

I'm looking for really bright colors if not neon bra in 36d or 36dd. any help?

— melbournesurf gurl posted 12/11/2009

I'm a 34GG. Try buying ANY bras from non-specialist shops at this size.

— posted 3/12/2010

Agreed, I am over this padded bra business. I had to search online for unpadded bras. I found some @ Target.com and Jockey.com. It is so dumb not everyone is trying to make their size B's look like C's. If the industry keeps this up I will just stop wearing them. Some dumb man an insecure woman decided to get rid of almost all the unpadded bras.

— princess posted 4/21/2010

The worst betrayal is that the "standard" fine manufacturers such as Bali, Olga, Vanity Fair, etc., flipped a switch one day and produced these foam contraptions to meet the demand of, what, a couple schoolgirls? Or is it more like an attempt to stampede the marketplace to drive up profits since the Wonderbra went kaput? And, while I'm at it, so what if my nipples show when it's chilly? It's life ... and sexy. Europeans don't think a thing about it.

— fineasiam posted 4/25/2010

I too am in search of 36A size unpadded bras.I bought some really nice Maidenform bras at Kohls a few years ago. I can not find them anymore however. B

— Bette posted 5/2/2010

I have a victoria's secret bra I got maybe a year ago, it's unpadded. it's an angels one... (mine is a B Cup) so I guess maybe you just gotta look hard. :) I love mine!

— jaz posted 5/3/2010

I am a 36 B and over 50. I've been happy with my bra size and don't want to enhance - I don't want to buy a bigger shirt to accomodate what the designers think I should look like. But it's time to replace what I have - thanks to the people who have made suggestions, I'll check out target and jockey.

— jrrei posted 8/21/2010

Here's the deal. We all have issues. Personally, my girls aren't that big and I don't want to make them bigger. However, I am older and they are getting tired. They need a little boost so they aren't hanging at my belly button, so a little "stucture" is necessary and welcome now. In response to "little foam domes that can stand on their own freak me out". Wait a few years...you might appreciate those little foam domes. Even little boobs get tired after a while.

My wife posts here some times. If the women don't mind, I would like to comment on the comments about each woman's breast size. My wife is a 36A, little to no cleavage. She has push-ups that enhance her cleavage, but look fake. She has some sheer/unlined, demi/balconette bras that we both like. I bought her a 1/2 cup bra, which she refused to wear out of the house, until recently. It is her favorite and now she has bought four more. She used to be unhappy with her "little girls' until we met and I lavished the girls with attention. Her first husband almost convinced her to get augmentation. She was always ashamed of her boy-look. Now she is as proud of them as I am. One nice thing about 1/2 cups, for her anway; her nipples harden and show through her tops slightly. We both like that, too!

— Denver posted 10/21/2010

Just to throw it out there if you really hate buying bras, make your own! It's not really that hard. There's a few tutorials online :) I got tired of trying to find cute bras in my size (32D) so I just started to make my own.

— Miranda posted 12/20/2010

I had the same experience shopping at Macy's - "where are all the unpadded bras? what the heck is this?" SO where do i shop for unpadded bras? (34B)

— melanie posted 3/4/2011

I want a bra that conceals my nipples, but isn't built like a football helmet for my boobs. Is that too much to ask for? I would like to be able to wear a tank top with a lightweight bra underneath, and I'd like to be able to wear it without my nipples poking through. But all the stores seem to carry these stupid push-up, underwire, padded things that are hot as hell when the temp gets about 70. WTF? I'm wearing a TANK TOP because it's hot out in the first place, you morons (bra makers)!

— JustWantToBeComfortable posted 4/29/2011

I totally agree. Bra manufacturers are clueless! I want a seamless, wireless, unpadded bra...what's the big deal? EVERYTHING is padded. I don't want to lug around a pile of foam rubber stuffed under my shirt. Years ago, Calvin Klein made a sylish, smart looking bra that fit really well, gave me support, looked invisible, had no seams, padding or wires, but they no longer make them. I wish i had bought 3 dozen.

— Christine posted 5/7/2011

Sometimes Target (Gilligan & O'Malley) has unpadded bras (similar to the old Calvin Klein one that Christine mentioned, which I had also) and they always sell out in a flash! Why don't the bra manufacturers/retailers realize that there is a huge market for "normal" bras?

— Uncle Led posted 5/20/2011

Giggled at some of these comments and really appreciated the sense of humor other 'smaller-busted' women passed on! I, too, am not much more than a couple of pregnant fried eggs, and it's long-been a very sad, sore point for me. Even more in my now-elder years, as my husband 'appreciates' big-busted women and my feelings get 'busted' often, as he's a looker-at-busty-women man. Hard to respect that and harder to love myself for what he wants and hasn't got! That's life.

— ElizaM posted 7/25/2011

Anyone know where I can get wireless, non-padded bra size 32C?

— Lake posted 12/8/2011

I live in Montreal and this is my pet-peeve. Wear 36-b... almost impossible to find pretty unpadded bras (I don't want sports bras). All fucking bras are padded... everytime I see an unpadded pretty one, I buy it... every single fucking time... don't the manufacturers see the point of adding variety and selling unpadded???

— Jessica posted 1/31/2012

Do you know if you can remove the padding from a bra that's not specifically removable and sew it back up? I'm not sure how well that would work but I bought a super cute bra but I hate the push up padding in it. Any suggestion?

— Me posted 1/31/2012

Me, I cut open the dart on the inside lining and cut the padding out around the edges (didn't want to mess with resewing all of those seams). I like a little barrier - just not that ridiculous push up thing - so I cannibalized an old stretched out bra's lining and stuck it in the new bra. Then just sewed the new and improved lining in to avoid slipping, resewed the dart, and pulled some of the loose fabric from the outside of the cup into the seam.
