I had a friend tell me some medical information that I had told her. That wasn't as bad as this, though. I'd get rid of that friend!

argh I have a friend who does this all the time! Worse, she really likes the difficult or tragic stories- often things I emphatically do not like to talk about. She doesn't straight-up pretend they happened to her, but does use them in one-upping/suffering contest type conversations ("you think you have it bad? Ellie had blahblahxyz!") as though she wins the contest by association.

Yes, this is MOST annoying! It's like you don't know if they are knowingly doing this, or if they are just that confused. If the latter was the case I would be worried for the friend in question.
