When you are driving and the person in shotgun holds on to the door or the dash or fucking tries to press their foot down on an invisible brake as if I don't know what I'm doing or how fast I'm driving.

Glad someone said it. I find this is even more annoying when the person won't actually say, "woah - i'm scared - you drive like a psycho". They're just silently slamming that brake. Also, in my case, this just makes me start driving less cautiously - just to screw with them.

It's a very aggressive form of passive aggressiveness.

Mom does that all the time!! Hahaha. She expects me to start braking each and everytime she sees a brake light. Its hilarious.

Hehehe, my mother and her boyfriend are just like that. She hates that I don't slow down too much for turns, something I HAVE to do, because if I brake like she wantes me to, the engine would stop before I can accelerate again.

My mom does that, too. She doesn't even have a license and hasn't driven in 20-some-odd years.

In my defense I only do this after the 10th time I've told my boyfriend to please take it easy cause he's scaring me to death.

I have a friend who I drive home from work sometimes, and no matter how slow, or how fast I take a corner, she grabs onto the holy shit handle...oh no wait, that would require actually having a holy shit handle in the car, no she actually just grabs onto the top of the window...drives me bonkers

I have been guilty of doing this butit is because I was in a severe carwreck. I was treated for PTSD and now can relax while others drive.

The only time I ever do anything like this is when the person I'm riding with is driving like a looney. If I see the person driving making errors that I only made while learning to drive? Yeah, I'm a little on edge. Maybe your driving sucks and you need to take a hint.

Sometimes it's instinctual, but generally its overdone by the passenger.

It's totally instinctual for me. I wish I could stop. The "holy shit" handle holding is not quite a reflex. I am not passive aggressive about it, I usually tell the person their driving scares me as well.
